At the Academy in Ghent we were supposed to draw. Luckily drawing could be anything. I used a lot of gouache paint. It’s opaque and has great reflective qualities.
This series was heavily inspired by catalogue photo's of works by Gerhard Richter and Mark Rothko. I thing I was drawing something, but forgot what exactly. I also mixed the gouache paint with chalk and ink and other 'stuff'. After a while all these mixed materials of course began to change. We rarely notice this. All art, especially painting, changes dramaticallly over time.
